Emily Wittbrodt - Wearing Words (Futura Resistenza, 2026)

According to Emily Wittbrodt, words carry not only meaning but are also part of your identity — hence the title ‘Wearing Words’. The German-speaking cellist chose to add the texts only once all melodies were complete. She deliberately composed the melodies at the pitch of her own singing voice, so that the classically trained opera singer Sandro Hähnel would sound softer, more fragile, and gender-neutral. The result is a delicate interplay of language, poetry, and music.
