Faith Coloccia + Tashi Dorji - And Their Power Was Alive
‘And Their Power Was Alive’ is a collaboration between two artists known for exploring the extremes of sound. On this album, they seem to embrace sonic restraint instead. There are no crushing drones or noisy improvisations, but meandering melodies that shift between meditative drones and fragile songs. Coloccia and Dorji deliver a record that feels like an intimate recording session during a weekend in the countryside, full of subtle outbursts that may not register as such, but are felt emotionally. On “Ashen Cinder,” longtime friend Aaron Turner straps on his guitar.
